Design and Color Scheme
The Shrine's design and color scheme were developed to create a rich jewel-like interior - a balance of color, light, iconography and ornate decoration.

Iconography
The series of icons completed for the Shrine are scenes from the life of the Mother of God. They are hand written in artist's oil colors, on canvas, and accented with gold leaf. Each icon is framed with the re-sculpted and glazed decorative molding that was original to the Prayer Shrine.

Prayer Panels
Two prayer panels, with hand painted calligraphy, were completed in artist's oil colors on canvas.

Design Motif Panels
Twelve hand painted ornate designs were completed and installed on the walls of the Shrine.

Canopy
A new canopy was designed and constructed from wood to enhance the existing mosaic and marble altar. The canopy was finished and gilded to compliment the altar. Accent lighting was included to highlight the mosaic.

Altar
The existing altar was salvaged and reworked to enhance its original construction by adding a decorative faux finish wood panel faced with a sculpted copper relief of the Mother of God's monogram.

Leaded Glass Windows
A set of new leaded glass windows were designed and produced for the Shrine using textured antique glass to compliment existing front entrance windows.

New Guild Studio has been in the liturgical arts field since 1991. Over the years, the company of four - David and Suzann Miriello and David and Mary Korns - have completed numerous sacred art projects that range in scope and scale from the design and production of a single chalice to the renovation of an entire church.
