Four stained glass windows were created for a newly erected mausoleum nestled in Squirrel Hill's Calvary Cemetery.
The two round windows depict various feast days of the Blessed Mother and Christ. The Resurrection and the Assumption of Mary are present as examples of their content. A small window high above depicts the Holy Spirit and the center window shows a scene of Christ interacting with children of donors who generously gave for the creation of the windows.
Each piece of glass was hand painted and kiln fired to bring out the reverence of the imagery. The design is then assembled by leading, a technique used as far back as the 7th century in most religious structures and some homes. |
